hero? villain? all depends on timing

unimpressed with the extraordinariness of libraries, must read this and learn the value and importance of these beautiful monuments

4. The Four Tendencies -Gretchen Rubin

interesting categories, but has not stuck with me

5. Daring Greatly -Brené Brown

all of us have failed and will continue to fail, but vulnerability leads to evolution

6. Hunger -Roxane Gay

intense memoir on eating disorders and body image/self image, content warning for eating disorders and sexual assault

7. Essentialism -Greg McKeown

clarify to find purpose, focus on one thing at a time to maximize / self-help

8. Irresistible -Adam Alter

internet addiction is real and on purpose and very scary

9. The Family Upstairs -Lisa Jewell

seems like a good story until you really assess characters and motivations, lots of content warnings for this : pedophilia, cults, child abuse, domestic abuse

10. The Testaments -Margaret Atwood

sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, but doesn’t answer questions from that one, very intense to read, especially on seeing how easy it is for women to design shitty systems for other women

11. The Coffee Bean -Jon Gordon & Damon West | illustrated by Rachel Yedam Kim

delightful read about how it is okay to take time to become what we need to be and also that coffee is delicious

12. Golden In Death -J.D. Robb

little egg causes mass destruction and Eve and the cast have to figure out who and why

13. The Field Guide to the North American Teenager -Ben Phillippe

main character attempts to put everyone in boxes and then the box system falls apart

14. Life’s Accessories -Rachel Levy Lesser

a memoir that I felt quite neutral about

15. Difficult Women -Roxane Gay

content warning: sexual assault, rape / exploration of different circumstances of sexual abuse, assault, rape, very intense but shows how prevalent this type of abuse is

16. The Tipping Point -Malcolm Gladwell

explores the moment when something (idea, person, company, trend) tips over a threshold and spreads, lots of case studies

17. Talking to Strangers -Malcolm Gladwell

case studies of what draws us and repels us to certain individuals

18. What The Dog Saw -Malcolm Gladwell

a compilation of a little bit of everything

19. No True Believers -Rabiah York Lumbard

amazing plot, great writing / a teenager, Salma, must deal with Islamaphobia and a white supremacist conspiracy plot

20. The Little Prince -Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

amazing and adorable and would love to get my hands on a beautiful edition for the permanent collection
